Overview What is BS EN 14972-1 about?  BS EN 14972-1 is part one of a multi-series standard that specifies requirements and recommendations for the design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of all types of fixed land-based water mist systems.   BS EN 14972-1 is intended to apply to water mist automatic nozzle systems and water mist deluge systems supplied by stand-alone or pumped systems. BS EN 14972-1 covers only applications and occupancies which are covered by the fire test protocols of the EN 14972 series.  Note: BS EN 14972-1 does not cover –  Water mist associated with explosion protection and/or use within vehicles  Legislative requirements in certain countries  Who is BS EN 14972-1 for?   BS EN 14972-1 on fixed firefighting systems is applied for the following -:  Healthcare industries  Oil industries  Manufacturing industries  Museums and galleries  Disaster management services  Why should you use BS EN 14972-1?  The aim of a fire protection system is helpful in business purposes as it is used to protect a building's occupants and minimize the damage associated with fire. Overall, the goal is to provide the widest possible window for a safe evacuation, whilst also reducing potential repair costs.  BS EN 14972-1 provides you guidance on firefighting system which is used to protect areas containing valuable or critical equipment on an oil platform. The protected area is quickly filled with a gas or chemical extinguishing agent which ensures the safety and protection of systems. BS EN 14972-1 also provides you guidance on the design, installation, water mist system components, main pumps for water mist systems, testing acceptance and commissioning, testing and maintenance that allows you to install water mist systems ensuring safety in case of fire hazards.  Guidance in BS EN 14972-1 allows you to implement water mist systems for the fire protection of industrial, commercial, and residential hazards.  What’s changed since the last update?  BS EN 14972-1:2020 supersedes CEN/TS 14972:2011 and incorporates the following principal changes:  Guidance on areas of operation  Guidance on the effective capacity of tanks  Extension of the scope of application to cover more areas in buildings when supported by test standards produced by other organizations
